FreshDirect wants to be a really green grocer.
The online market, whose ubiquitous refrigerated trucks notoriously idle for hours on city streets, enraging residents while hogging precious parking spots, is exploring using pedal power to deliver its wares.
“We are constantly looking for ways to go green, so we’re open to this idea, as well as others,” the company said in a statement, declining to say how it would be able to use bikes to deliver its huge boxes of food.
