Pentagon may take legal action against SEAL author

The former Navy SEAL who wrote a firsthand account of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden breached agreements to not divulge military secrets and could face legal action, a top Pentagon lawyer said yesterday.

In a letter to the author, Jeh Johnson said “No Easy Day” — published under the pseudonym Mark Owen — violates two nondisclosure agreements he signed with the Navy in 2007.

The Pentagon has not revealed how it got a copy of “No Easy Day.”

In the book, scheduled for release next week, Owen challenges the official version of how Bin Laden was killed in May 2011.

The author writes that Bin Laden was shot in the head when he peeked out of his bedroom door as the SEALs climbed a narrow staircase in pursuit of him.

Officials said the shot from the staircase missed the terrorist, and the SEALs killed Bin Laden during a confrontation inside his room.
