Nicks fine after first action, will be ready for Giants opener

Hakeem Nicks didn’t suffer any setbacks after his first game of the season.

Nicks, who was in the East Village last night promoting an NFL on-field hat line, returned to the field Wednesday night in a 6-3 preseason win over the Patriots after breaking a bone in his foot in May.

He had one catch for six yards and was hit hard by two defenders.

“I felt pretty good. It’s not like I did a lot,” Nicks said. “There is no looking back now.”

Nicks said he appreciated quarterback Eli Manning getting him involved in a limited number of plays.

“He knows next week we have to go for real,” Nicks said. “He wanted to get me into the mix a little, get me going a little bit. That was all good.”

Nicks, who believes the Giants have another Super Bowl run in them, said he expects to be able to prepare fully for the Giants season opener Sept. 5 against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
