6 hurt in wrong-way Bx. chase

Six people were injured yesterday when a dangerously dumb teenage car thief took cops on a wrong-way chase on the Major Deegan Expressway, authorities said.

Officers pursued the stolen 2011 Nissan Altima from East Harlem across the RFK/Triborough Bridge and into The Bronx.

Once over the bridge, Jamel Maldonado, 18, steered south on the Deegan. Suddenly, around Willis Avenue, he hung a U-turn that put him northbound in the southbound lane, causing him to hit several vehicles, police said.

Three cops and three civilians were taken to hospitals, all listed in stable condition.

Sources said Maldonado, who is expected to be charged with grand larceny auto, had one prior arrest — for allegedly stealing his mother’s iPod.
