Newly shorn Rihanna took home MTV’s top video honor last night, but her two best-known suitors took the prize for most restrained duo at an awards ceremony.

While Rihanna was generating buzz for her new short ’do and her winning “We Found Love” video, Chris Brown and Drake managed to work the same room without a single bottle being thrown.

Drake even sauntered past Brown to accept an award at the LA ceremony months after their posses clashed in a bottle-hurling melee at a New York nightclub.

Meanwhile, tongues were wagging about Kanye West, a red-carpet no-show, whose “Perfect Bitch” has him on a short leash.

Kanye bailed out on the show at the last minute because girlfriend Kim Kardashian couldn’t make it, according to reports.

He was not scheduled to perform, but his song “Mercy” was up for two awards: best hip-hop video and best editing.

But West’s “Perfect Bitch” — his pet name for Kardashian — had a New York Fashion Week event and couldn’t make it out for the awards show, according to London’s Daily Mail. “Kanye didn’t want to go to the VMAs if she couldn’t be there,” a source said.
