Rivera? Rivera? No-shows run in family

The Rivera political clan is chronically absent from work, and when they do show up, they do little lawmaking, records show.

Only 22 of the Assembly’s 150 members cast fewer votes this year than Naomi Rivera — and that’s because they were facing probes, retiring or campaigning.

The Bronx assemblywoman was absent or failed to vote 130 times — 12.12 percent of the time, an annual analysis by the New York Public Research Institute shows.

Her dad, Assemblyman José Rivera, was absent or failed to vote 106 times, for the 27th worst record in the body this session.

Last year, he had the third worst voting record, behind only a dead legislator and William Boyland, who is facing bribery charges.

Naomi was 14th worst last year.

“Voters should demand explanations from legislators who miss a high number of votes,” NYPIRG’s Bill Mahoney said. “Were there extenuating circumstances, or were they simply not interested in doing the most important part of a job funded by taxpayers?”

Even when the legislators do come to work, they don’t do much.

José Rivera introduced one bill in 2011 and five in 2012. He tied as fourth least active in 2011-12.

Naomi Rivera introduced 41 bills in the past two years, ranking her as the 34th least-active lawmaker in the body.
