Modern romance, plus best in glow

Day three kicked off with a celebratory mood at Lacoste. As a nod to the brand’s 80th birthday, models strutted head to tote in all things iconic to the brand: tennis balls, rackets and, of course, the crocodile.

Romantics will fall hard for Jill Stuart’s spring offerings. The designer focused on fabrics that “felt fragile, ethereal, wispy.” Think modern-day Juliet in white-lace-embellished babydoll dresses.

The amorous aesthetic traveled downtown to Prabal Gurung, where models stormed the smoke-infused runway in black or white variations of fluttery-winged tops toughened up with python and pops of red.

On the opposite end of the fantastical spectrum was Rebecca Taylor, who injected a downtown-girl jolt into her looks. Denim shorts and zippered moto jackets gave hibiscus-printed dresses a fresh vibe.

For sex appeal, look to Hervé Léger, where the classic bandage dress is embellished with chain links, wide leather harnesses and sapphire-blue appliqués, offering a welcome pop of color.

Finally, for Alexander Wang, spring is all about the optical illusion. Clear fishlines and mesh panels showed subtle slits of skin. But as he is wont, Wang saved the best for last by reworking staples like the muscle tank in a slinky cable knit that lit up like glow sticks. Lights off. Party on.
