A happily quiet anticipation seemed to linger among the audience before the Derek Lam show and once the show began, you knew it was for good reason.
Lam started out on home spun sportswear, with autumnal toned plaids, then moved into shots of brightly colored leather skirts and stand-out macramé and guipure lace dresses, tops and skirts. After establishing his skill at making crafty by-gone era sportswear beyond chic, he skipped into the future with jumbo laser cut foil paillette skirts and a dress in the last look. It seemed to be a completely different feeling from the rest of the collection, but hey, don’t forget, opposites do attract!
