Tonight had all of the hallmarks of a Zac Posen show. Leigh Lezark worked the crowd in a Zac concoction (this time with a huge train dragging behind her). Purple haired Kelly Osbourne (this time with her long haired boyfriend by her side) whipped past cameras while Michelle Harper preened for them. As everyone took their seats on the promenade of Avery Fischer Hall, a collective whisper went through the crowd. “Is that Lourdes ‘Madonna’s daughter’ Leon with her father, Carlos?” Yes it was.
And as the first model walked out, it became clear that this night would be one of the most buzzed about shows of the season. It was Naomi Campbell in a hibiscus print day dress. Big names like Crystal Renn, Karolina Kurkova, Alek Wek, Isabeli Fontana, Hilary Rhoda and Coco Rocha followed in the lineup, like they were attending a supermodel summit. The collection itself was basically what Posen does best: trumpet shape gowns with precise architectural details. There were a few separates like wide leg pants paired with an ivory tulle bustier that swirled at the waist. A white jacquard organza ball gown with a movement all its own closed the show down, and Posen with Rocha and Campbell on each arm, took his bow.
