Jets’ Landry not sorry for celebrating on play Bills RB got hurt

Bills running back Fred Jackson left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter after taking a hit from Jets safety LaRon Landry. Landry hit Jackson directly in the knee, jumped up and clapped over Jackson.

It looked as if Landry was celebrating that he injured Jackson, but Landry said he did not realize Jackson was hurt.

“I’m a passionate player,” Landry said. “I play with emotion. I don’t wish any hurt on anybody. I’ve been through injury-prone seasons two years in a row. I would hate to see anyone go through that. I was playing with passion, I made a tackle, was happy about it and that was that. I give it all I’ve got and I leave it on the field.”

* New punter Robert Malone did not see much action with how well the offense played. His first punt came with 14:20 left in the game, and it was a beauty. He kicked a 55-yarder that was downed at the Buffalo 4. His second punt went 48 yards.

* Cornerback Antonio Cromartie did not see any time at wide receiver in the game as the Jets had practiced in training camp.

“The way our receivers are playing right now, I ain’t gotta play,” Cromartie joked.

Cromartie had an ice wrap on his right shoulder after the game. He said he injured it on a near interception, but he will be fine.

* OLB Bryan Thomas and WR Patrick Turner both suffered hamstring injuries. … NT Sione Po’uha was inactive for the game after trying all week to return from the back injury that kept him out of the preseason. Kenrick Ellis started in his place.
