Back in the Limelight: New event space opens

Just in time for Fashion Week, Derek and Daniel Koch, of Dual Groupe, continue to expand their reach in the old Limelight space, once an iconic disco draw back in the day, with the opening of a 3,000-square-foot event space.

The lease was signed last week and the first event was a birthday bash for Dual Groupe partner Michael Weinstein this past weekend.

Called the Chateau Cherbuliez event space, it is adjacent to Chateau Cherbuliez, the indoor/outdoor wine bar and model hangout named for the Koch brothers’ grandmother and run by Dual with celebrity chef Todd English.

This Wednesday, Chateau Cherbuliez officially opens its upstairs restaurant and private dining room for 25. Access to the upstairs space is limited to private members and their guests, said Koch. Membership details are still being worked out.

Decor includes a glass floor that reveals the wine bar below, photographer Patrick McMullan’s art from the Limelight’s drug and disco days, two fireplaces and a 1900s mural of Paris. The formal French menu features classics like Dover sole, steak tartare and cote de boeuf.

A posh Upper East Side luxury condo has partnered with an organic cold-pressed juice/cleanse brand to juice up its amenity program for residents. The building, at 515 East 72nd St — home to celebrity chef Eric Ripert, of Le Bernardin, and Sushi of Gari’s chef Masatoshi Sugio — will now offer an Organic Avenue menu at its residents-only spa.

The move follows that of trend-setting Related Companies, which has placed Equinox gyms and Kidville services in its luxury buildings and, earlier this year, partnered with restaurateur Danny Meyer’s Union Square Events. Their first project together will be for food and restaurant offerings for Related’s massive Hudson Yards project.

Top chef Daniel Boulud’s right-hand woman for the past two decades has left to launch a restaurant of her own. Georgette Farkas, whose grandfather founded Alexander’s, a department store chain, is scouring the Upper East Side for a 3,500-square-foot space for a 90-seat rotisserie and bar with a French accent.
