HOOPS: Reggie headlines 2012 Fame class

Reggie Miller, Don Nelson, Ralph Sampson, Jamaal Wilkes and Nike co-founder Phil Knight were among the inductees last night at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

The class of 2012 also included two-time ABA MVP Mel Daniels; Chet Walker; two-time Olympic gold medalist Katrina McClain; NCAA referee Hank Nichols; and the late Don Barksdale, who broke the color barrier on the U.S. Olympic team.

MLB: McCarthy remains hospitalized

A’s pitcher Brandon McCarthy remains hospitalized in a “life-threatening” situation, according to Oakland trainer Nick Paparesta.

McCarthy suffered an epidural hemorrhage, brain contusion and skull fracture when he was struck in the right side of the head by a line drive Wednesday.

Rays ace David Price has been scratched from his start tonight because of soreness in his left shoulder.
