Rivera ducks TV debate

Facebook-loving Bronx Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera finally met a camera she didn’t like.

The scandal-scarred pol — already facing probes for putting a pair of boytoys on the public payroll — ducked a cable TV debate last night with her three challengers in Thursday’s 80th District primary.

But her opponents took a cue from Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood’s act at the Republican National Convention and unloaded on the empty chair she would have occupied.

“We are living a dream, and we are Naomi’s nightmare, and we are going to get rid of her Sept. 13,” fumed activist Irene Estrada Rukaj.

“It comes down to a district that has not had any representation. People who pay the price are our constituents. It’s a tragedy for the whole district,” agreed challenger Mark Gjonaj, a real estate big.

Newcomer Adam Bermudez said Rivera miserably failed to represent her constituents.

“I think that we all agree on that. We’ve lost faith and trust that she’s going to do the right thing,” said Bermudez.

Even BronxTalk host Gary Axelbank piled on.

“Naomi Rivera has flatly declined our invitation to appear. It’s the second time she has declined to participate in these forums. She will be represented by an empty chair,” Axelbank said.

Rivera – who also used her connections to get her son a series of jobs on the public payroll – is under investigation by four law-enforcement agencies.

But the Bronx Democratic machine is still supporting her in the four-way primary.

The well-connected assemblywoman – who posted party pictures of herself on a Facebook page under the name Daniela Rivera – has refused to answer questions, saying she’s the victim of a media vendetta.
