Zang Toi opened with boudoir looks — a gorgeous ivory floor-length morning gown with ruffled borders and a beaded ivory mini-robe. Naughty secretaries in pinstripes followed with visible garters (printed on stockings, in a modern twist.) Softly structured, almost sensual, tweedy work wear followed. Then came the gowns — a giant tulle bubblegum Cinderella ballgown followed by a parade of “Disney dresses” in silk gazar. Through these motifs, Zang Toi emcompassed nearly every womanly fantasy: the sex kitten, the naughty secretary, the working girl, the princess — even if he went a little cartoonish in the process.
