Officials probing string of car fires in Harlem

Fire marshals and police are investigating a series of mysterious car fires in Harlem this morning, authorities said.

The blazes broke out this morning in the vicinity of Jackie Robinson Park. There at least five torched cars, said a spokesman for the FDNY.

Ayodele Maakheru, 52, parked his 2012 Hyundai Accent last night at 7 p.m. and discovered his car was destroyed late this morning.

“Mother f—er!” he said when seeing the back end of his car demolished by fire.

“I just made 5 payments and was paid up through the rest of the year,” Maakheru said. He works as a musician and needs the car to get to jobs.

“They know right from wrong, they know this is wrong,” he said.

The ordeal started at 1:45 a.m. when police got a call of a Chrysler minivan being torched on West 151st Street and Macombs Place, cops said.

Another shocked motorist discovered his car had been torched at 6:50 a.m. when he went to leave for work.

“Who knows what they were thinking,” said Jamel Watson, 25, who’s Toyota was totaled.

” If I came and saw them doing this it would be a whole different story,” Watson said.
