Nets add 3 to roster

With two weeks to go until the start of training camp, the Nets signed three players yesterday to fill out their roster.

The Nets signed guard Stephen Dennis and forwards Carleton Scott and James Mays, pushing their training-camp roster to 18 players. All three are long shots to make the Nets’ 15-man regular-season roster, however, as the Nets are expected to keep forwards Josh Childress and Andray Blatche — whom they signed last week to one-year, non-guaranteed deals — with their last two open spots below the 15-man threshold.

Scott, who spent three years at Notre Dame, and Dennis, who spent four years at Division II Kutztown University, both played for the Nets’ entry in the Orlando Summer League in July.

Mays, a 6-foot-9 forward who played four years at Clemson, spent time in both Turkey and Puerto Rico last season.
