Iraq vet guilty in grenade smuggle, faces 3 years in prison

A Bronx resident and former soldier faces more than three years in the slammer after pleading guilty today to illegally transporting two military grenades he swiped while stationed in Iraq.

Anthony Cibelli, 25, admitted secretly stashing an M67 fragmentation grenade and an M84 “flash bang” stun grenade with his gear before it was shipped from Iraq to Fort Bragg, NC.

Cibelli, who served two tours of duty, later arranged for the explosives to be sent to his home in The Bronx, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

As part of his plea bargain, prosecutors dropped a more serious charge of theft of government property
