YONKERS — Authorities say a fire at a Yonkers apartment building that left 27 people homeless may have been intentionally set.
Four tenants and four firefighters suffered minor injuries in Sunday’s fire at 103 Webster Avenue. It spread to two nearby buildings, which sustained heavy damage.
One dog was killed, and at least three others have not been accounted for.
Deputy Fire Chief John Flynn told the Journal News that investigators have information that the fire may have been intentionally set. He declined to elaborate.
The Red Cross has set up a reception center at the PAL building on North Broadway to help the displaced residents.
Twenty-seven residents registered for assistance but the organization said more people may have lost their homes and not yet signed up for help.
