McGloin has career day for Penn St.

Matt McGloin threw for a career-high 318 yards and ran for two short scores, and linebacker Michael Mauti led another strong defensive effort to lead Penn State to a 24-13 win over Temple (1-2) yesterday in State College, Pa.

Allen Robinson added to his torrid start as the top receiver for the Nittany Lions (2-2) with a 41-yard touchdown catch on a fourth-down play in rookie coach Bill O’Brien’s new offense.

In Stony Brook, N.Y., Miguel Maysonet carried 27 times for 198 yards, including the winning touchdown from 1 yard out with 3:31 remaining, as the Seawolves (3-1) overcame three turnovers to defeat Colgate (1-3).

Wagner 31, CCSU 13

In New Britain, Conn., Dominique Williams rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns and Wagner (1-3, 1-1 NEC) pulled away in the second half to take down Central Connecticut State (0-4, 0-1).

West. Michigan 30, Connecticut 24

In Kalamazoo, Mich., Alex Carder threw for 237 yards and a touchdown to lead Western Michigan (2-2) over Connecticut (2-2) for the second straight season.

Chandler Whitmer was 28-of-44 for 333 yards and three TDs for UConn.

Wake Forest 49, Army 37

In Winston-Salem, N.C., Michael Campanaro scored a career-best three touchdowns, and Wake Forest (3-1) came up with a key fourth-quarter stop to beat Army (0-3).

Raymond Maples ran for 140 yards and caught a 13-yard TD pass from Trent Steelman for the Black Knights, who finished with 429 rushing yards.

Minnesota 17, Syracuse 10

In Minneapolis, Donnell Kirkwood rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns and Minnesota’s (4-0) defense showed it is no longer the pushover it has been for decades in a 17-10 victory over Syracuse (1-3).

Marist 34, Davidson 21

In Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Chuckie Looney threw for 403 yards and four touchdowns, three to Michael Rios, to lead Marist (2-2, 1-0 Pioneer League) over Davidson (0-3, 0-1).
