A key piece of Brooklyn Dodgers history is back in the public eye again — in front of the new Barclays Center.

A former flagpole that once hung at Ebbets Field has been quietly installed by the main entrance to the Brooklyn Nets’ new home at the corner of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues, sources said.

The copper-top, white flagpole has been fully restored, but isn’t sporting a flag yet. There’s a rectangular space inside the flagpole’s gray base for a yet-to-be installed plaque honoring the Dodgers.

Two sources confirmed it’s an Ebbets Field flagpole that once carried the American flag, and that arena officials plan to soon hold a ceremony celebrating this historic find.

Following the demolition of Ebbets Field in 1960, its center-field flagpole was installed and stood for decades in front of Canarsie Casket Company on Utica Avenue in East Flatbush, but the flagpole was removed after that building was torn down in 2007 to pave way for a church.

It was unclear last night whether the flagpole in front of Barclays Center is that flagpole or another which stood atop the front entrance to Ebbets Fields’ façade.

The Nets aren’t the first New York team to honor the Brooklyn Dodgers in a new sporting venue. When Citi Field opened in 2009, Mets fans complained it showed the Dodgers too much love at the expense of the home team.
