Prison is one thing — but this is just torture.
An inmate who was supposed to be sprung after serving 17 years in prison for a notorious murder that the feds say he didn’t commit is fuming behind bars after the Bronx DA reneged on an offer to set him free.
Eric Glisson told The Post yesterday that he was transported in shackles from Westchester’s Sing Sing prison to Rikers Island after being told he would be freed to house arrest at a Roman Catholic mission in Greenwich Village.
But Glisson never even got to court after Bronx prosecutors filed papers saying they needed more time to investigate his case.
“I’m pissed off. Who wouldn’t be?” Glisson said by phone from Sing Sing, where he was tossed back in a cell last week.
“I’m pissed because the truth has finally come out, and they’re denying me justice.”
Glisson, 37, and co-defendant Cathy Watkins, 44, are both serving 25 years to life after being convicted for the 1995 shooting death of livery driver Baithe Diop in The Bronx.
But an investigation by the Manhattan US Attorney’s Office revealed that two members of the infamous Sex, Money and Murder gang actually committed the crime.
Spokesman Steven Reed said the DA’s office was willing to have Glisson and Watkins released “under the appropriate conditions,” adding, “While the court has indicated that there is no legal basis for release pending a resolution, we are still attempting to determine if there is a way to accomplish that.”
