Woman’s body found in Bronx dumpster; son cops to killing her

Hours after a Bronx mother was found dead in an apartment building dumpster this morning, her teenage son admitted to cops that he killed her, according to a police source.

Darwin Jackson, 16, made the startling admission that he fatally shot his mother, Tihesha Savage, 34, after an argument shortly after being taken into police custody.

Jackson was later charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession, cops said.

A trail of blood was found leading from the family’s Macombs Road apartment.

Jackson allegedly left the apartment with the remains at about 7:30 a.m. A building superintendent found the bin about 9:15 a.m. in a dumpster across the street from the apartment building where the family has lived for more than 14 years.

Sonia Carrion, 44, a long-time neighbor, said Savage was a single mother of Jackson and a 7-year-old daughter.

Savage was most often seen with her little girl, walking her to and from school. Savage’s relationship with her son was more difficult, and the pair often argued, Carrion said.

“She was always looking for her son,” she said. “He is always in the streets giving her a hard time.”

Carrion said another neighbor told her she overheard a loud argument in the apartment after 6 a.m., and the little girl crying.

The medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death. An NYPD crime scene unit and detectives remained at the scene Wednesday afternoon. Police are seeking a search warrant in hopes of finding the weapon.

Police have responded to a domestic disturbance at the family’s home once, but the call did not result in an arrest, a source said.
