‘Good Wife’ gets explicit

In an attempt to catch up with racy cable dramas, CBS’ “The Good Wife” is pushing the envelope this season — including some sexually-oriented scenes not seen on TV before.

While the old-line broadcast networks can’t show that much skin, the Oct. 7 episode of “The Good Wife” features an unusually heated sexual encounter between Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and her estranged husband Nick (Marc Warren) at a bustling ice cream parlor.

In the scene, Nick reaches under the counter and between Kalinda’s legs. He then plunges the same fingers into her ice cream cone.

Unperturbed, Kalinda gives Nick a bemused smile before finishing her cone — as kids enjoy their own cones in the background.

“The Good Wife” has broken ground before in the realm of sexually-explicit suggestion — including oral sex and a lesbian encounter.

In an online interview posted yesterday on TVLine.com, Panjabi indicated it was only the first of a series of scenes that will redefine what the networks can get away with in prime time.

A spokeswoman for the show yesterday declined comment.
