Thieves hit jewelry store in broad daylight

Two well-dressed but armed thieves made off with about a dozen Rolex watches today after they brazenly robbed a Madison Avenue jewelry store — and pepper-sprayed the employees — while tourists and shoppers passed by outside.

Joseph Krady, owner of Madison Jewelers, at 400 Madison Avenue at 47th Street, said one of the men came in first and asked about gold Rolexes about 3 p.m.

“He looked like a customer,” he said.

But when Krady asked which Rolex he was interested in, the man replied, “I’m gonna take all of them,” according to NBC 4.

The man pulled out a handgun and held it at his waist, said store employe Isaac Khabih, 18. “When he pulled the gun the other guy automatically came with the bag,” he said.

He said the thieves scooped up ten to 12 Rolexes and grabbed some other merchandise.

Khabih said the men used a Mace-like spray on him and Krady before fleeing.

It was all over in six minutes. “It was very scary,” Krady said.

The total value of the robbery was not clear.
