Northwestern student from Long Island who was found dead had been drinking before he vanished: pals

The Long Island teen found dead after he went missing near a Chicago university campus had been drinking booze before he vanished a week ago, his pals told cops.

Evanston Police Commander Jay Parrott told The Post that cops are now investigating whether alcohol played a role in the death of Harsha Maddula, 18, who was supposed to be on medication for diabetes.

His family believes the sophomore stopped taking his meds.

“I’m sure he had one or two once in a while but he wasn’t the type of person to drink a lot,” said cousin Surekha Maddula of Manhattan.

The body of the Northwestern University student from New Hyde Park was pulled from a Lake Michigan harbor late Thursday.
