Going wishy-washy on Iran

The Issue: President Obama’s UN speech, in which he defended Islam from those who wish to “slander” it.

***

Obama’s doublespeak sends our enemies a convoluted message (“Defender of the [Islamic] Faith,” Editorial, Sept. 30).

His use of the Holocaust in referencing hate against the Jewish community is superfluous at best. Israel is in danger of annihilation.

Obama’s World War II reference shows his contempt for the truth regarding Iran’s motives.

His appeasement certainly has played into the Arab Spring’s success as each new government riots against America.

While I have no respect for Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, I trust his statements more than those of Obama.

Ahmadinejad has been unswerving about his goal of eliminating Israel, while Obama changes with the political wind — first promising that he will stop Iran, then reneging, and, when it is politically advantageous, repeating the meaningless phrase that Iran cannot be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb.

As far as his defense of Islam, I would be happier if Obama defended democratic principles on which our nation was founded.
