Missing NJ teen who sent hoax tweet found safe

The New Jersey runaway, who launched massive Twitter hoax, has been found safe and sound just outside Wilmington, Del., police said today.

Clark teenager Kara Alongi was spotted by Jersey state, police walking on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 1 yesterday in Carneys Point at 4:30 p.m. in, cops said.

The 16-year-old was reportedly taken to hospitals, in both southern New Jersey and closer to her Clark home, for routine examination. She was reunited with her worried-sick family in Clark last night.

Cops are still investigating and want to know how Alongi spent her 46 hours missing.

The girl set off a wild good chase when she tweeted on Sunday night: “There is somone in my hour ecall 911.”

Within a few hours, the teen’s tweet sparked a social-media hurricane — Alongi suddenly had 94,000 followers on her Twitter page, and Facebook pages dedicated to her rescue began to sprout.

But police quickly figured out she was a runaway, after a taxi cab driver said he picked up Alongi at her home and took her to the Rahway Train Station.

Security cameras also spotted Alongi buying a tickets for New York Penn Station.

Her iPhone was left at home.
