Angry workers storm ‘scam’ job placement agency

Angry workers who were allegedly scammed by a job placement agency stormed the company’s Chelsea offices yesterday.

“I know they’re trouble,” said Elizabeth Beschamps, 26, who says she was bilked by United Care Services.

The city’s Consumer Affairs department is investigating the company for allegedly taking fees from applicants before sending them out for positions that didn’t exist.

Nearly 80 complaints were registered against the company.

“People are saying they pay $100 for security jobs and they never get a job,” Beschamps said outside the company’s office on Sixth Avenue.

Managers promised to land them $18-an-hour jobs as housekeepers and security guards — but not before they forked over anywhere between $100 and $400 for “background checks and uniforms,” WABC/Ch. 7 reported.

A consumer affairs spokeswoman, Abigail Lootens, said there have been “various business names at this location.”

In March, a company called NYC Works, surrendered its license after only four months after a consumer affairs investigation.

Later that month, a company called Job Force One was hit with a violation for operating without a license.

The company settled the violation and agreed to discontinue operations.
