Letterman calls out reluctant Romney again

David Letterman isn’t going to let Mitt Romney off the hook yet.

For the second show in a row, he urged viewers not to vote for Romney unless the GOP presidential candidate agrees to come on Letterman’s “Late Show” — which Romney has indicated he’s reluctant to do.

“Mitt is on record as saying when he gets to be president, the first thing he will do is he will talk to China,” Letterman said last night in his monologue. “He can handle China, but he can’t handle me. Really? Really, Mitt?

“I don’t have a dog in this fight,” the late-night host insisted.

“I’m a registered independent, just … you gotta come on [the show].

“And listen, do me a favor,” Letterman told the audience. “If he doesn’t come on, don’t vote for him. It’s just that simple.”

Romney was caught on a secretly recorded, now-infamous video last summer telling a fundraiser: “Letterman hates me because I’ve been on Leno more than [on] him. They’re very jealous of one another, as you know.”

Ever since the video’s release, Letterman has been asking the Republican hopeful to come on his show.

So far, Romney has not responded.
