New tree is a ‘fruit salad’

They’re branching out.

Australian farmers have created “fruit-salad” trees that grow more than one type of fruit at a time.

One magic formula involves an orange tree that also grows lemons, limes and grapefruits, ABC News said. Another versatile tree grows peaches, plums, apricots and nectarines.

James West had been working on the idea since 1990, and is now selling potted-trees Down Under.

Farmers in California have also created multi-fruit trees, available for $100.
