Sonic boom or bust for jumper

Call it the ultimate leap of faith.

Australian daredevil Felix Baumgartner plans to jump from 23 miles above Earth tomorrow in a death-defying bid to become the first sky diver to break the sound barrier with just his body.

Baumgartner, 43, will go up — weather permitting — in a small balloon-hoisted capsule in Roswell, NM, and jump out with nothing more than his pressurized space suit and parachute.

To break the sound barrier, his fall must exceed 768 mph.

“So many unknowns,” he said yesterday, “but we have solutions to survive.”,
