Judge dismisses reputed Gambino associate’s sob story

This mobster’s sob story didn’t sell.

A reputed Gambino crime-family associate was sentenced to seven-plus years in the slammer today, despite telling the judge that he had “disgraced” himself and the uncle that took him in after he was abandoned by his drug-addict parents.

Keith Croce’s defense lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, also portrayed the three-time loser as having “the worst upbringing background that I’ve ever been involved with” because “nobody cared about him.”

But Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman said he had heard similar stories while serving previously in Family Court, telling Lichtman: “Mr. Croce’s situation is not as unique to me as to you and other members of the court.”

Berman also said he had to take into account the “impact on society” of Croce’s admitted crimes, which included dealing massive amounts of pot and cocaine.
