Indie-film darling Agnes Bruckner has been chosen for the much-talked-about role of Anna Nicole Smith, the Playboy pin-up whose dreams of notoriety ended with a drug overdose in 2007, in an upcoming Lifetime movie of her life.

Bruckner, 27, is a Hollywood baby and has been acting since she was a kid.

In 1999 she played Bridget, child of the famed Forrester family on CBS’s long-running soap “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Her career in independent movies began when she was only 15, when she played David Strathairn’s mistress in “Blue Car.”

She also starred in several television guest roles, including “24” and “Private Practice.”

The role of Anna Nicole had been seen as one of the juiciest opportunities for an actress all year.

Recall that Jennifer Lopez got her start playing murdered Tejano singer Selena in a TV movie and Angelina Jolie came to fame as doomed model Gia Carangi for HBO.

The movie is set to debut sometime next year.
