Robin: ‘GREAT!’ news on recovery

Two weeks after undergoing a stem-cell transplant, Robin Roberts yesterday said that the procedure appears to be a success.

“The only numbers that matter are my blood counts and they are . . . GREAT!” Roberts wrote on her blog from the isolation ward, where she has been kept to avoid infection.

“My sister Sally-Ann’s stem cells apparently feel right at home in my body — an answer to so many prayers. My doctors and rock-star nurses are very pleased with my progress.”

All week, Roberts had been awaiting word whether her body had accepted or rejected the bone-marrow cells donated by her sister.

The news yesterday was so good, she wrote, that she’s calling the day “Thankful Thursday” and could be home as soon as next week.
