TV reporter apologizes for Cano PED tweet

Dan Tordjman, the Charlotte television reporter who fingered Robinson Cano for having failed a performance enhancing drug test in September, has cost his television station $10,000 and apologized to the Yankees’ second baseman.

“He issued an apology on Twitter, WSOC apologized on YouTube and WSOC will donate $10,000 to Robinson’s foundation,’’ Cano’s agent, Scott Boras, said.

On Sept. 21, Tordjman posted on his Twitter account “Can’t confirm this but I’m hearing that Robinson Cano tested positive for PEDs. Announcement from MLB coming shortly.”

An announcement never came.

“I trust journalists and media outlets take great care with the earned reputation of great players and individuals like Robinson Cano,’’ Boras said.
