Cops are probing whether the 17-month-old boy found buried in a Long Island back yard over the weekend died before his family ever moved there.
Investigators have no evidence that little Justin Kowalczik was ever seen alive in Farmingdale, where his mother, Heather Kowalczik, and her boyfriend, Robert Rodriguez, moved to from Orange County in July 2010.
In an interview with The Post on Saturday, Kowalczik blamed Rodriguez for the child’s death. She also said her son died after the couple moved into the home.
But cops are investigating whether the tot died before the relocation and whether the move was designed to escape the scrutiny upstate.
Rodriguez, who is not the boy’s father, has been named a “person of interest” in his death. Cops told landlord Louis Lancia that the tot had been buried along with a shovel.
