Troopers not welcomed back in Yankees dugout

BALTIMORE — According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Maryland state troopers were not positioned in the Yankees’ dugout for last night’s ALDS Game 2 against the Orioles in Camden Yards after acting unprofessionally Sunday night, The Post has learned.

During the ninth inning of Sunday night’s Game 1 Yankees victory, Nick Swisher and Derek Jeter were approached by a state trooper who brazenly asked for autographs.

Swisher and Jeter were stunned by the request, which angered Swisher.

“MLB guaranteed [state troopers] wouldn’t be in the dugout,’’ the person said. “Only Baltimore [police].’’

The troopers were positioned in the upper deck and outside the ballpark last night.

Staff members and players were shocked at the troopers’ behavior. Joe Girardi said his focus was on the field and he did not notice the autograph seekers, but said, “That shouldn’t happen. After the game I don’t have a problem with it.’’
