Sandusky’s just deserts

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky got what was coming to him.

A Pennsylvania judge yesterday sentenced him to 30 to 60 years in prison after a jury returned a guilty verdict on 45 counts of sexually abusing young boys.

Though shorter than it might’ve been, the sentence all but guarantees that the 68-year-old Sandusky will die behind bars.

Yet he continues to insist that he’s the victim of a bizarre conspiracy.

In point of fact, the evidence against Sandusky was overwhelming, consisting of multiple witnesses with no apparent reason to lie.

And he left a trail of real victims in his wake: At least 10 boys who were abused, of course, but also Penn State itself, which is paying a huge price for its officials’ unwillingness to take action against Sandusky.

But at least Jerry Sandusky is where he richly deserves to be — headed for a future behind gray stone walls.
