Tweet heads ask: Can ‘The Good Wife’ be saved?

The so-called “sexy” storyline on “The Good Wife” is not working.

Twitter activity around the character Kalinda Sharma, played by Emmy-winner Archie Panjabi, indicates fans are not digging her S&M storyline with her husband, Nick.

“I’d like to speak to you about your husband. Ex-husband. Whatever,” says @Ginger_Clark, in a typical tweet. “It was a BAD IDEA.”

“Very pleased with Homeland and Dexter, but I’m not with the all 50 shades on The Good Wife,” says Maria Paolo Chironi @disaxster. “They ruined a wonderful character.”

Ratings for the drama, now in its fourth year, have reflected the discontent. The most recent episode drew only 9 million viewers.

“Moving it to Sunday night has not worked for the show. I think it’s their biggest problem,” says Brad Adgate, senior vice president of research at Horizon Media. “The reasons why it’s not doing well are related to football. The show doesn’t start at 9 p.m. because of football overruns. That afternoon you’re promoting ‘The Good Wife’ on CBS to football fans? They’ll probably be watching NBC Sunday night football.”

Adgate predicts that CBS will move the show.

“Typically putting a show on Sunday nights is a sign of endorsement, but it hasn’t panned out,” he says.
