2 raps after park rape

He was on a sex-attack spree, officials say.

The tattooed transient accused of violently raping a 73-year-old birdwatcher near Strawberry Fields marched straight from that attack to the Upper West Side, where he sexually fondled two women on the street, prosecutors now say.

The new charges were revealed as David Albert Mitchell barked the words “not guilty” at his arraignment hearing yesterday.

Mitchell pleaded not guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court to first-degree charges of raping, sodomizing, beating, choking and robbing the birdwatcher just before noon on Sept. 12.

He also pleaded not guilty to groping a woman at West 70th Street and Broadway at 1:15 p.m. that same day, and then a woman at West 71st Street and Broadway.

Prosecutors did not release the ages of those two women or the specifics of the attacks.

Prosecutors said that after cops confronted Mitchell that night and loaded him into a police van, he said, “I’m going to spit in your face. I’m going to punch you in the face. I’m going to s–t and p–s in the van.”
