Jets have all the Luck vs. Colts rookie QB

Colts interim coach Bruce Arians was asked for his assessment of quarterback Andrew Luck’s performance yesterday against the Jets.

“Rookie,” Arians responded.

The Jets made the No. 1 pick from this year’s draft look like a rookie after he turned some heads last week in the Colts’ comeback win over Green Bay. He threw two interceptions, fumbled once and completed 50 percent of his passes.

The Jets are now 4-0 under Rex Ryan against rookie quarterbacks. In those games, the quarterbacks have combined to complete less than 50 percent of their passes, throwing six interceptions and just one touchdown with a quarterback rating below 50.

“I’m glad we played him this year and maybe not two years from now because he’s got all the talent in the world,” Ryan said.

* The Jets offense got two of their offensive weapons back yesterday that had been missing. Tight end Dustin Keller played his first game since Week 1. Wide receiver Stephen Hill had missed the last two games. Both players had hamstring injuries.

Hill had three catches for 23 yards and one touchdown. Keller had just one catch for 6 yards as the team spent most of the day running the ball. Keller and Hill both contributed with their blocking more than their pass catching.

* The Jets had a huge rushed for 252 yards, the most since Jan. 2, 2011 against Buffalo, but they may have suffered some losses to their backfield.

Backup running back Bilal Powell left the game in the second half and is believed to have a separated right shoulder, according to a source. Powell left the locker room in a sling and will have an MRI exam today.

Joe McKnight injured his ankle on a 61-yard run in the third quarter. McKnight will also have an MRI exam today to determine the extent of the injury. He did not comment.

* First-round pick Quinton Coples notched his first career sack when he brought Luck down for a 14-yard loss. Coples was flagged for a face mask penalty on the sack, taking some of the luster off it. He later was credited with half a sack with Aaron Maybin. … CB Ellis Lankster recorded his first interception of his career. … The 41 yards rushing allowed to the Colts was the third-lowest total the Jets have allowed under Ryan.
