Minnesota’s Kill released from hospital

Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill was released yesterday from the hospital one day after he had a seizure in the locker room after a loss to Northwestern.

University physician Dr. Pat Smith issued a statement saying Kill has been treated and is “in excellent health.” Kill has struggled with seizures for years, including several times last season in his first year with Minnesota.

School officials did not provide a status for this weekend’s game at Wisconsin. Kill has never missed a game because of seizures and Smith says the coach plans to be back in the office today.

* Rutgers outside linebacker Khaseem Greene was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 23-15 win over Syracuse.

The fifth-year senior recorded 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks, forced three fumbles and also had an interception.
