24 Hour Plays on Broadway announces star-studded cast

The cast for the annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway production has been released and features a powerful list filled with big names.

The cast will include actors and actresses such as Seth Green, Sam Rockwell, Brooklyn Decker and Brooke Shields among others, The Post can exclusively reveal.

Alongside Green, Rockwell, Decker and Shields will be Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Anthony Mackie, Billy Crudup, Carla Gugino, Diane Neal, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Fisher Stevens, Gabourey Sidibe, Jack McBrayer, Kathy Najimy, Liev Schreiber, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Trachtenberg, Rachel Dratch, Rosie Perez and Zosia Mamet.

The show, which will take place on November 12th, is a truly unique experience for both the actors and the winning members of the Urban Arts Partnership who will create an entire play in the short span of 24 hours. The grueling, yet enjoyable process lends its name to the Broadway show, in which the aspiring artists prove their worth by writing, directing and performing one of six ten-minute plays.

“From a tiny theater on the Lower East Side to being on a Broadway stage, it is amazing, not only for Urban Arts but more importantly for the students – it is inspiring,” Perez, Actor & Artistic Board Chair, Urban Arts Partnership said. “The kids participate in the 24 Hour Plays on Broadway and without the support of great sponsors like Montblanc, it wouldn’t have happened. If you could only see the kids, it is so inspiring.”

Montblanc is entering its seventh year presenting the play, and on Monday night held its third annual Young Writer’s Program where seven aspiring writers competed for a chance to work alongside a mentor and pen one of the six plays that theater-goers will see next month. The winner, Maynor Alas, bested the rest of the field, which all competed under the strict and rigorous deadlines that will be required when 24 Hour Plays gets underway.

“Montblanc has supported Urban Arts Partnership, forming great talent along the way,” Jan-Patrick Schmitz, Montblanc North America’s President and CEO, said. It has always been a dream to bring one of these talented young people to a Broadway stage.

“We are dedicated to this program and proud of the contributions we have made during the last several years to enhance the classroom experience for students in our communities.”

24 Hour Plays will take place on Monday November 12th at 8:00 pm at the American Airlines Theater.
