‘Killer’ rats self out: DA

He’s not that Julio Iglesias — but he sure does sing a lot.

A Brooklyn gang-banger is on trial for three murders because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut, telling a cellmate he lied to cops and boasting, “I think they’re buying my story,” prosecutors said yesterday.

Iglesias, 21, — no relation to the Latin pop star — and accomplice Omar Xochmitl, 26, are on trial for allegedly shooting and stabbing to death rival gang member Gavin Torres, 19, in Midwood in 2010.

Iglesias told investigators he shot Torres in self-defense, but later told his cellmate, “I shot the guy in the back; you think that’s a problem?” according to Assistant District Attorney John Vourderis.

“They also don’t know about the two guys I killed in Sunset Park with the .22,” Iglesias allegedly bragged, Vourderis said in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

The startled cellmate motioned for cops, and privately told them what Iglesias said.

When investigators then told Iglesias that his cell was bugged, the gullible gangster confessed to the Torres shooting, plus the September 2009 murder of two men in Sunset Park, Vourderis said.

Defense attorney H. Benjamin Perez said Iglesias’ confession had been coercedafter two days of interrogation.Xochmitl was charged with the Torres murder while Iglesias also faces two murder charges for the 2009 killings.
