Injured Smith to miss Knicks road trip

MONTREAL — J.R. Smith has been booted from the Knicks three-game preseason road trip that begins tonight against the Raptors.

Smith, now wearing a protective boot on his left foot, didn’t practice yesterday and will not make the Knicks three-game trip. Smith missed Saturday’s game in Hartford with what the Knicks still term a sore ankle, but Smith told The Post he has an Achilles injury.

Smith practiced Tuesday, but was shut down Wednesday. The Knicks have not said if Smith is staying back to have an MRI exam.

Ronnie Brewer, who returned to practice Wednesday, made the trip to Montreal and could make his Knicks debut. But that likely wouldn’t be until Monday in Syracuse against the 76ers. Brewer, who had left knee surgery in early September, has yet to scrimmage.
