Cops investigating mysterious death of 3-year-old Bronx girl

Police are investigating the mysterious death of a Bronx girl, authorities said.

Cristal Sanchez, 3, was found unconscious in her family’s home on Longfellow Avenue, near E 167th Street, by her mother’s boyfriend, 32, police sources said.

He rushed her to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Neighbor Ana Serrano, 50, said the child had been sick and throwing up. She overheard the man’s shouts when he found her. He ran out in the hallway and called for help.

“I just heard the man screaming, ‘I can’t wake up my daughter! Oh my god, help me!’”

Serrano said she went into the bedroom to help. “Everyone came running out to see if they could help, but she wasn’t responding,” she said sadly. “She was just lying in her bed with her eyes open. It was so sad to see. They’re such nice people.”

A police source said bruises were found on the little girl’s waist.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
