‘Village’ people

Could children really control the Earth? In the classic 1960 British horror film “Village of the Damned,” they come pretty close. The action takes place in the village of Midwich. Scientist Gordon Zellaby (George Sanders) is talking on the phone when he passes out — an occurence that happens to all the inhabitants. And then the women of childbearing age suddenly find themselves pregnant. Their spawn, all born within hours of each other, have blonde hair and penetrating, glowing eyes. The kids all seem to share the same consciousness and decide to band together and ignore the adults. It’s up to poor George to stop them when they try to take over the town.

VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED

Anniversary episode

There aren’t that many shows any more that make it to 300 episodes, but this week, “Law & Order: SVU” celebrates a milestone. The case hearkens back to a child abduction from 13 years before. A young boy from Morningside Heights is kidnapped while in the care of his father, and the investigation reminds Captain Cragen (Dann Florek), Sergeant Munch (Richard Belzer) and Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) of an unsolved kidnapping that occurred in the same neighborhood. While the entire squad races against the clock to find the boy, Benson vows to set both cases right. Also starring Ice-T (Detective Odafin Tutuola) and Danny Pino (Detective Nick Amaro). With Tom Sizemore as the boy’s dad, Louis Hodda.

LAW & ORDER: SVU

Closing in on a traitor

Following a secret debrief from Saul (Mandy Patinkin), a stunned Estes (David Harewood) authorizes a covert operation to pursue intel recovered on Brody (Damian Lewis) in Beirut, but not without putting his own trusted operative in charge. Brody, still reeling from his misadventures with the Tailor, gets another shock when he runs into Carrie (Claire Danes) at Langley. A casual invitation to bury the hatchet turns into an explosive, fateful encounter neither of them could have foreseen. And Brody’s snarky adolescent and eldest child, Dana (Morgan Saylor), discovers she has something in common with Finn Walden, the vice president’s son. Is their relationship going to be a spinoff on the CW?

Up in the air

When Mindy (Mindy Kaling) must find a new gynecologist, she asks Danny (Chris Messina) to assume the role. Eventually, he accepts — on the grounds that Mindy will feel too uncomfortable to go through with the exam. The two then play a game to see who will back out of the deal first. Meanwhile, Jeremy (Ed Weeks) tricks Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) and Betsy (Zoe Jarman) into helping him break into Mindy’s apartment to retrieve a valuable item.

In Atlantic City, Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) copes with Teddy’s demons, while Owen investigates a fire; Gillian (Gretchen Mol) feuds with Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) and finds a surrogate for Jimmy; and Richard (Jack Huston) connects Paul Sagorsky (Mark Borkowski).
