NFL: Tannehill practices

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is practicing on a limited basis after leaving last Sunday’s victory over the Jets in the first quarter with left knee and thigh injuries. Backup Matt Moore also took snaps with the starters.

Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed Michael Vick will remain his team’s starting quarterback.

The Texans claimed former Jets running back Jonathan Grimes off waivers and released linebacker Mister Alexander.

Colts interim coach Bruce Arians said rookie tight end Coby Fleener (shoulder) and cornerback Vontae Davis (knee) will not play Sunday against Miami.

NBA: New pact for Curry

Golden State guard Stephen Curry signed a $44 million, four-year contract extension before last night’s season opener at Phoenix. … Matt Barnes missed the Clippers’ season opener last night while serving a one-game suspension issued by the NBA after he pleaded no contest last month to a misdemeanor for resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer.

The Grizzlies exercised the fourth-year option on swingman Quincy Pondexter, keeping him under contract through the 2013-14 season. … James Harden and the Rockets finalized a five-year, $80 million contract.

The Bulls appointed Scottie Pippen senior adviser to president and chief operating officer Michael Reinsdorf. … The Raptors reached an agreement on a $40 million, four-year contract extension with forward DeMar DeRozan..

Taj Gibson agreed to a four-year, $38 million contract extension with the Bulls. … Jrue Holiday signed a four-year, $41 million extension with the 76ers.

COLLEGE: Anderson cleared

UCLA freshman Kyle Anderson has been cleared by the NCAA to play basketball this season. Athletic director Dan Guerrero said the NCAA “found no evidence’’’ of recruiting violations for the highly recruited forward from Jersey City.

TENNIS: Djokovic loses

Sam Querrey defeated second-seeded Novak Djokovic 0-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the second round of the Paris Masters. It was the first time since the Miami Masters in March 2010 that Djokovic has been eliminated so early in a tournament.

Etc.: Sandusky sent to prison

Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was sent to serve his child molestation prison sentence at Greene State Prison in far southwestern Pennsylvania that includes most of the state’s death-row inmates. He will be housed in protective custody.

Jordan Jefferson, the former LSU quarterback, was released from jail in Baton Rouge and placed on a one-year probation after he pleaded no contest to a charge of simple battery stemming from a 2011 bar fight.
