Garden State guardian: Chris Christie Is the man

The Issue: NJ Gov. Chris Christie’s leadership during Hurricane Sandy and the recovery efforts .

***

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is what America is made of (“Chris Christie — Leader,” Editorial, Nov. 2).

He stood up for decency and did the right thing. People should notice that he was the keynote speaker at the Rebublican National Convention. This is the type of person who will work for and with Mitt Romney.

And Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Cuomo? They showed their mettle — marathon before self-sacrifice, until the mayor backed down yesterday.

They should be ashamed.

I am proud to be a New Jersey resident who voted for this outstanding individual.

God bless our governor and the people of NJ who are dealing with this tragic loss.

I commend Christie for getting away from politics, particularly right before a presidential election, by praising President Obama and FEMA for their speedy and strong response in aiding victims of Hurricane Sandy in his state.

I also praise his priorities, the highest of which was preventing loss of life and getting people to safe places, rather than trying to solve the Election Day problems that Sandy has caused.

It was heart-warming to see the mutual admiration that has developed between Obama and Christie, but the only reason the lovefest occurred is that Obama is being called upon to aid the many NJ residents whose lives were turned upside down.

In the aftermath of the man-made horror that unfolded on 9/11, there was a similar coalescence among political figures.

How many days will the bipartisan harmony last this time?

I have to say that I am impressed with Christie and Obama for working together.

This is how Republicans and Democrats are supposed to work in times of crisis. I hope they set an example for both parties and send a message that their job is to serve the people who elected them.

I like what I see. I hope that it spreads.

Kudos to The Post for recognizing Christie, who not only felt the pain of the people but also showed it.

He focused on the process, rather than the politics, to bring relief to the people of New Jersey.

His great heart and compassion will not be forgotten. God bless him.
