This week’s couple: Long stormy

THREE DAYS after Hurricane Sandy, Mimi, 30, and Chris, 27, met in their home borough of Brooklyn for their blind date at the excellent comfort food spot, Peaches HotHouse. But for Chris, getting there wasn’t easy, as he was more than 50 minutes late. Was Chris able to recover or did his tardiness cause a disaster?

He said:

Because I was late, I was nervous. I thought Mimi would give me a harder time, but she was understanding and even cracked some jokes about it. She was pretty and very well put together.

Mimi could not only dish a joke, she could take one as well. That made the date fun. She made fun of me not having a haircut for my picture that ran in The Post, I told her it was last minute so I had an excuse and her profile made her sound serious. But, she was a lot of fun and Peaches was also great. I’m going again and telling others to go there too.

Mimi and I exchanged numbers and I’d like to see her again. Next time I won’t be so late.

She said:

The look on Chris’ face because he was late was super funny and sweet and he looked super nice, like a real sweetheart.

While I was waiting, I talked to my dad who told me to leave the loser, but I understood with Sandy, transportation was a mess and I’m glad I ended up staying. Peaches was an amazing spot, relaxing, with great food and drinks.

We had good conversation. Chris told me about his friends, and I could tell he loves them like brothers. I am the same way with my friends, so it’s good to see we had that in common. And we both have a corny sense of humor.

Chris waited until the last second and awkwardly asked for my number, but it was cute and I gave it to him. I would be down to hang out again because he’s sweet and funny.
